- known hypercoagulable disorder
- admitted from another institution
- presents with significant leg immobility
- presents with signs and symptoms of VTE
- significant critical illness
- significant neurotraums (TBI, SCI / TLS spine fractures)
- comatose
- known malignancy (e.g. GBM, meningioma)
- CKD on hemodialysis
- received platelet transfusion or antithrombotic reversal
- recent major orthopedic surgery
Order screening dopplers as “urgent” and not routine.
